Importance of Tire Chains on Trucks during Winter

Trucks are one the most difficult vehicles to drive on and only professional and skilled drivers were allowed to handle this kind of vehicle as it is hard to maneuver and control because of its size .  How much more when driving on a slippery road especially during winter where the road is covered with snow. Accidents can happen anytime, civilians and other vehicles might got in the way and get hurt. The reason why in some regions it required tire chains for trucks when driving on snowy road during winter, this is to guarantee that the tires will have a strong grip or traction on ice and will prevent slipping and lead to an accident.

Classes Suspended Today and Tomorrow

Classes from all levels except college level was suspended today due to typhoon that is currently  bringing havoc to the country. As usual the announcement came so late and students were already in school and it was the afternoon classes that were suspended. To make up for the blunder, early this evening the department of Education announced that tomorrow’s classes is again suspended. Every year, same problem, I guess we’ll just have to live with it, they don’t want to change the start of semester to non-rainy season, so be it.

Anyway, the parents only can do is to keep some protection to their children this rainy season:

  1. Always keep umbrellas and raincoats/jackets handy on their bags, in case it rains.
  2. Rainboots when walking on flooded streets to prevent getting skin infections and diseases like leptospirosis and athlete’s foot.
  3. Providing healthy food and vitamins especially vitamin C to build up immunity against illness brought by the cold weather.
  4. During typhoons keep updated on the weather report and road conditions.
  5. If you think the weather is getting worse, make a decision upon your discretion.

Not For Kids Shows

It was only last year that I started to watched television shows on local channels since we had our cable disconnected. I enjoyed watching noontime show Eat Bulaga and is very impressed with what they are doing on the program, like the Juan For All, where their three co-host go from one barangay  (local community) to another. They gave away prizes in cash and in kind to lucky winners and at the same collect empty plastic bottles from the whole neighborhood. This plastics will then be recycled into plastic chairs and donate to deserving schools.

Anyway, this post is about some shows being aired in the afternoon. I noticed that some of these didn’t cater anymore for kids especially these so-called telenovelas. My concern is, not all kids took afternoon naps and most of the time are exposed to this kind of shows where violence, bed scenes, inappropriate behaviors and immorality among characters prevails, where this could be leading us? As we tried to shape our kids’ personality to become a good person and this is what they saw on TV.

It should be the responsibility of the parents and adult guardians to regulate their children’s viewing habit but TV stations and Movie and TV Regulatory Board do have the same responsibility too, to check and control what is being shown during these hours. It is very alarming when both parents are working which is very common today and only the nannies are left to accompany the children, there are no assurance from them to stop the kids from watching these TV shows as they might watching  these as well. For stay at home parents, be vigilant in checking what TV shows the  kids  are watching,  make sure they only view kid-friendly shows and if you have nannies or house-helpers, inform them too on the suitable shows for the kids.
